This week, Patricell attended the first VentureFest Conference in the East Midlands Region at the East Midlands Conference Centre located within the 300 green acres that constitutes the University of Nottingham main campus.
VentureFest 2015 focused on drawing together the local innovation eco-system, showcasing unique business ideas and support organisations available.
VentureFest East Midlands joined forces with Creative Quarter Nottingham to invite businesses and entrepreneurs to take part in Innovation Hub sessions focused on business growth, investment, social business and education.
One of the highlights of the day was a presentation by Neil Johnston from Innovate UK with a panel with Tacis Gavoyannis from Siemens, Andy Nicholson from DSTL and Christ Hart from EMAHSN; which explored the future challenges we face, globally, nationally and locally. Drawing from the panel’s experience and expertise the session gave an insight on how innovative ideas can translate to commercially viable, revolutionary solutions, independent of the size of business.
Amongst the exhibitors we saw representatives from various regional universities such as De Montfort University, Loughborough University, University of Leicester and University of Derby as well as our local Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham.
For those looking for investment and support representatives from Creative Quarter Nottingham, Crowdfunder Innovate UK and UKTI were present to give advice and direction along with other industry related organisations.
The 2016 VentureFest East Midlands has also been confirmed to take place on the 16 and 17 March in Leicester.
The team at Patricell recommend VentureFest to anyone looking for product innovation, business development support, access to funding advice or industry and academia partnerships, and look forward to seeing you at the 2016 VentureFest East Midlands.
